MPC & Bendigo Bank Good Character Awards 2008

Eight Secondary Schools responded to the MPC invitation to select a student, from years 7 to 12, who had demonstrated particular character attributes to staff and students during 2008. It was interesting to find that there were twenty character traits noted by school staff and these are:

MPC members would sincerely like to thank the Manningham City Council and the Doncaster East Community Bank Branch of the Bendigo Bank for their generous contributions towards the 2008 Awards to students. Thanks too to the following schools for selecting students to receive awards and for promoting character traits; Doncaster Secondary College, Donvale Christian College, Warrandyte High School, Whitefriars College, Templestowe College, Marcellin College, Bulleen Heights School and Heatherwood School.

Manningham Promoting Character is an initiative inspired by the 'US Character First Program.' It was set up in the City of Manningham in 2000. Manningham Promoting Character's vision is to create a safer, more caring, and more co-operative community for all people during all activities. Its mission is to implement a plan which supports these ideals. The program aims to build a better community by promoting a number of character traits, which change from year to year.

In 2009, the traits will be Determination, Discretion, Generosity, Patience, Resourcefulness and Thoroughness. Typically, adopting the traits provides a more well rounded person to participate in affairs and events within the community in which they live.
